Udit Narayan Viral Mms Video : Veteran playback singer Udit Narayan has finally broken his silence on the controversy that erupted over his antics at a recent live concert where he was seen kissing female fans. The viral video of the incident has invited widespread criticism on social media with many netizens calling it a ‘shameful act’.

At one point, when he performed on Bollywood track Tip Tip Barsa Paani, several female fans were approaching him to take selfies. In some cases, Narayan could be seen kissing fans on the hand, but in one video, he was seen kissing a woman on the lips when she came up to kiss his cheek. The videos quickly went viral, sparking outrage and debate on what the boundaries are between celebrities and their fans.
Udit Narayan responds
In an interview to Hindustan Times, Udit Narayan defended himself from the controversy, saying he hails from a ‘decent family’ and so he has no problem with it. He said fans sometimes express their love and affection in different ways and such incidents should not be taken seriously.
“Fans don’t like it. We don’t log in like that, we log in decently. Some people promote and express love through it. Now what to do about this thing? There are so many people in the crowd and there are bodyguards too. But according to fans, it’s their chance to meet, so someone extends a hand for a handshake, someone kisses their hand. All this is necessary. They shouldn’t get so much attention,” he said.
The singer further added that his family has always had a clean image and such controversies often target their reputation. “My family’s image is such that everybody wants (that there be any controversy). Aditya (Narayan, his son and fellow singer) stays quiet, doesn’t get into controversy. Many people might think so. “When I sing on stage it’s crazy, fans love me, I think they should be happy. Otherwise there wouldn’t be such a log. Humans also have to make them happy,” he said.
Clarification on lip-kissing incident
Speaking specifically about the video that went viral on social media in which he was seen kissing a female fan on the lips, Narayan clarified on it by saying, “I have been in this business for 46 years, but my image is not like this (kissing fans). In fact, when I see the love of my fans showered on me, I fold my hands, while on stage, I bow down, and think again whether aaj ka time laut ke aaye na aaye.”
Although he has clarified the incident, it still continues. Many social media users continue to criticise the singer, as certain limits should not be crossed even in the name of fan appreciation. Even some fans go in his support saying that celebrities often get caught up in the moment, while others say that these actions set a wrong precedent.
This has once again sparked controversy about celebrity conduct and their behaviour with fans. As Udit Narayan has claimed that his actions were not harmful in any way but were due to fan frenzy, this has sparked a debate on how much of one’s personal life should one allow into the entertainment industry. It remains to be seen whether this scandal dies down or continues to loom over the singer’s memory for a long time.
