Thiruvalla Gang-Rape Case: The survivor of the brutal gang rape at a spa in Thiruvalla has revealed disturbing details of the incident, stating that a group of around 10 people arrived at the establishment and openly declared that the assault was a “quotation.” Her statement has intensified police suspicion that the crime was a pre-planned attack rather than a spontaneous act.

According to the survivor, the attackers locked the room from inside, leaving her trapped with no chance of escape. She told investigators that she was raped for nearly 35 minutes while one of the accused held a knife to her neck, threatening her repeatedly. She also stated that the prime accused, Subin Alexander Chacko, appeared to be under the influence of some drug during the assault.
Pathanamthitta district police chief R Anand confirmed that the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, commonly known as the Kaapa Act, would be imposed once again against Subin Alexander Chacko, also known as Marana Subin. Chacko, 27, had earlier been detained under the Kaapa Act and was released in March 2025 after completing six months of preventive detention.

Police have arrested Chacko and another accused, Berlin Das, aged 38, in connection with the case. Four other suspects involved in the crime are currently absconding. Multiple teams have been deployed to trace them, and police say arrests are expected soon.
To ensure a focused and time-bound investigation, a special probe team has been formed under the supervision of the Thiruvalla Deputy Superintendent of Police. Anand said the special branch was the first to receive intelligence inputs about the gang rape. Even though no formal complaint was initially filed, police officers reached the spa immediately, recorded the survivor’s statement, registered a case, and launched the investigation.
Police are also probing whether the assault was carried out as part of a “quotation,” a term commonly used for contract crimes. While the spa owner has not yet filed a formal complaint regarding this angle, investigators are examining call records, financial links, and possible business rivalries that may have led to the attack.
Anand further stated that the functioning of all spa establishments in the Thiruvalla area would be scrutinised as part of the investigation. Authorities are checking for security lapses, illegal operations, and any possible connections to criminal networks.
Meanwhile, spa owner Dr Sanjay alleged that the assault was orchestrated by a rival spa owner with the intention of destroying his business. He also claimed the existence of an unholy nexus between police personnel and criminal gangs, though no evidence has been officially presented so far. Police officials said the allegations would be examined separately and appropriate action would be taken if any wrongdoing is found.
The case has triggered widespread public outrage and renewed concerns over women’s safety and the recurrence of violent crimes involving repeat offenders. With the reimposition of the Kaapa Act, intensified searches for the absconding accused, and a deeper probe into the alleged quotation angle, police say they are committed to ensuring justice for the survivor and preventing similar incidents in the future.
