Indian-American entrepreneur and technology expert Sriram Krishnan has been appointed as Senior Policy Advisor on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. The announcement was made by US President-elect Donald Trump on Sunday, highlighting Krishnan’s pivotal role in shaping the nation’s AI policies.
Sriram Krishnan is set to take the office of the Senior Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, said Trump. Together with the newly designated AI and Crypto Czar by the White House David O. Sacks, they seek to uphold the top position that America held in AI while aligning the policies on AI to have uniformity among agencies in government.
Krishnan’s impressive career spans leadership roles in some of the world’s top technology companies, including Microsoft, Twitter, Yahoo!, Facebook, and Snap. He began his career at Microsoft as a founding member of Windows Azure, Microsoft’s cloud computing platform. Speaking about his appointment, Krishnan said, “I’m honored to be able to serve our country and ensure continued American leadership in AI, working closely with David Sacks.”

David O. Sacks and Krishnan will also help the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology to ensure an integrated approach toward advancement in AI policy and innovation.
