Siddhartha Medical College Controversy: A major controversy has erupted at Siddhartha Medical College in Nelamangala taluk of Karnataka after a professor allegedly behaved inappropriately with a female student inside a classroom. The incident, which reportedly took place in T. Beguru village, quickly spread across the campus and triggered strong reactions from students.

The medical college is owned by Karnataka Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara, which has drawn even greater public attention to the matter as discussions around campus safety and faculty conduct intensify across the state.
According to preliminary information, a professor identified as Abdul allegedly expressed romantic interest in a female student during a classroom interaction. Reports suggest that he attempted to propose to the student and even offered her a chocolate while expressing his feelings.
The unexpected gesture reportedly shocked the student and others present in the classroom. The student immediately rejected the proposal, which allegedly led to a verbal altercation between the two.
Witnesses say the disagreement quickly created tension inside the classroom. As news of the incident spread through the campus, more students gathered and expressed anger over what they described as inappropriate behaviour by a faculty member.
The situation soon escalated beyond verbal protests. According to sources, some students confronted the professor and the situation reportedly turned violent. The female student is also said to have struck the professor with her slipper during the confrontation.
Eyewitnesses claim the professor tried to leave the area as tensions rose, but a group of students allegedly chased him across the campus premises. Reports suggest that he was pursued up to his car and was assaulted again before managing to escape from the scene.
The chaotic scenes left the campus tense for some time as students gathered in groups discussing the incident and raising concerns about the safety and dignity of women in educational institutions.
The matter now falls under the jurisdiction of the Nelamangala Rural Police Station. Police officials said the process of registering a case is currently underway and that a detailed investigation will be carried out to determine the exact sequence of events.
Authorities are expected to record statements from the student, the professor, and other witnesses who were present during the incident. Officials have also indicated that further action will depend on the findings of the investigation.
The episode has sparked a broader debate across Karnataka regarding professional ethics within educational institutions and the safety of female students on campus. Many have called for stricter guidelines and stronger mechanisms to address complaints of inappropriate conduct.
The incident has also renewed demands from student groups and activists for clearer policies that ensure respect, accountability, and safe learning environments within colleges and universities.
