Shakira Hospitalized: Pop icon Shakira has been hospitalized after experiencing an abdominal condition, prompting her to cancel one of her most anticipated performances in Lima, Peru. The singer, who is on her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour, broke the bad news to her fans through an Instagram post on February 15.
Shakira said that she had to go to the emergency room last night because of a stomach issue and that her physicians told her she was not in good enough shape to perform. Therefore, she made the hard choice to call off her concert at the National Stadium in Lima, Peru. “I am extremely disappointed not to be able to perform on stage today. I have been eagerly waiting to meet my amazing fans here in Peru,” she posted, showing her disappointment.

The 46-year-old pop star reassured her fans that promoters and her management were already working on finding a new date for the concert. She also expressed her appreciation to her fans, stating, “Thank you all for your understanding, I love you all,” before signing off with a personal touch, “Shak.”
Shakira did not give more information about the abdominal problem that hospitalized her, but fans are praying for her quick recovery. She hoped that she would be healthy enough to sing at her second concert in Lima and thanked everyone for their ongoing support.
The news comes only days after Shakira began her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour in Rio de Janeiro on February 11, 2025. Even with this setback, however, the singer has been making waves with her breathtaking performances, including a show-stopping cameo in an ensemble by Indian designer Anamika Khanna on the tour.
Shakira also hit the news earlier this month at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, where she won the coveted award for Best Latin Pop Album for Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, her first album in seven years. When Shakira accepted the award, she presented it to immigrants and diligent women, labeling them the “true ‘sheroes.'”
Fans are anxiously waiting for Shakira to recover and hoping that the singer will be back on stage in the near future, resuming her world tour.
