New Delhi, November 12 — The Union Cabinet and the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday strongly condemned the November 10 Red Fort blast, describing it as a “heinous terror incident” orchestrated by anti-national forces.
Reaffirming the Centre’s zero tolerance policy towards terrorism, the Cabinet vowed that the perpetrators, their collaborators, and sponsors would be brought to justice without delay.
Two-Minute Silence for Victims
The Cabinet observed a two-minute silence in memory of the 12 victims who lost their lives in the explosion near Delhi’s historic Red Fort. The blast, which occurred in a Hyundai i20 car, also left several people injured and caused extensive damage to nearby vehicles.
A resolution passed during the meeting stated,
“The country has witnessed a heinous terror incident, perpetrated by anti-national forces through a car explosion near the Red Fort. The Cabinet pays its solemn respects to the victims of this senseless act of violence and conveys its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.”
Swift Investigation Ordered
The Cabinet directed that the investigation be pursued with utmost urgency and professionalism, ensuring that all those responsible — directly or indirectly — are identified and punished.
Officials said the situation is being closely monitored at the highest levels of government, while all security agencies remain on high alert across the national capital.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared the Cabinet’s resolution, emphasizing the government’s commitment to safeguard national security and the safety of every citizen.
Global Support and Appreciation for Emergency Response
The resolution also acknowledged expressions of solidarity from governments worldwide following the incident. The Cabinet appreciated the swift response of security personnel, medical teams, and emergency responders, whose efforts helped stabilize the situation.
“Their dedication and sense of duty are deeply commendable,” the resolution noted.
The government further praised citizens for showing courage and compassion during the tragedy, underscoring India’s collective resilience in the face of terror.
No Mention of Foreign Involvement Yet
While the resolution described the blast as a terror incident, it did not specify any foreign involvement or comment on whether India would invoke its revised war doctrine, which treats major terror attacks as acts of war.
Officials maintained that the investigation remains ongoing and all possibilities are being examined by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Delhi Police Special Cell.
