Ranveer Allahabadia Viral Video: Popular YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahabadia, widely known as ‘BeerBiceps’, has issued a public apology following backlash over an inappropriate remark made on the comedy show India’s Got Latent. In a video posted on social media platform X, he expressed regret, stating, “I shouldn’t have said what I said on India’s Got Latent. I’m sorry.”
Allahabadia, who has a massive following of 4.5 million on Instagram and over 10.5 million subscribers on YouTube, acknowledged his mistake in a video message. “Comedy is not my forte. My comment was not appropriate, and it wasn’t even funny. I had a lapse in judgment, and I truly regret it,” he said.
The controversy erupted after a clip from India’s Got Latent went viral, where Allahabadia posed an explicit and offensive question to a contestant. The remark drew widespread criticism from social media users, public figures, and political leaders alike.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis addressed the issue, stating that freedom of speech should not infringe upon the dignity and values of society. “I have come to know about it. Things have been said in a wrong manner. Everyone has freedom of speech, but that freedom ends when it encroaches upon the rights of others. If someone violates social norms, it is absolutely wrong, and action should be taken,” said Fadnavis.
A legal complaint has also been filed against Allahabadia. Advocate Ashish Rai confirmed that a written complaint has been submitted to the Mumbai Police Commissioner, as well as to the National Commission for Women (NCW) and Maharashtra’s Women Commission. “There are a lot of videos with obscene language, which can make any common person uncomfortable. The intention behind such content seems to be financial gain through sensationalism,” Rai stated.
Allahabadia stated, speaking of his apology video, that he never intended to disrespect anybody. “This podcast is streamed for people of all ages. I do not take that responsibility lightly. Family is the last thing I would ever disrespect. I need to use my platform better, and that’s my biggest takeaway from this experience,” he said.
He said that he has requested the show producers to delete those insensitive portions of the episode. “I promise to get better. All I can say is I’m sorry, and I hope you can forgive me as a human being.”
This incident has called for a wider debate on responsible content creation. Many influencers, people with significant online presence, have been called out for an increase in accountability or ethical standards of those acting online, especially when discussing sensitive topics.
As the controversy unfolds, it remains to be seen what legal or industry-level repercussions Allahabadia may face. Meanwhile, his public apology serves as a stark reminder of the fine line between humor and offensiveness in the digital age.
