A video capturing a tiger hunting a deer at Ranthambore National Park has gone viral with widespread criticism on social media. The footage was captured by the park’s official Instagram account, showing the tourists in safari jeeps witnessing the rare and dramatic moment from an alarmingly close distance. Many of the onlookers were recorded capturing the incident, while one of them took a selfie during the event.
The post, which was captioned “Breathtaking scene as a tiger’s agility, strength, and precision,” has been severely criticized. Even though some viewers are filled with awe at the wild power, others criticize the authorities and tourists for venturing too close to the habitat of the tiger. People were invited to share their wildlife stories, but it was instead bombarded by negative comments from wildlife enthusiasts and conservationists.
Critics pointed out how dangerous and unethical it would be to let safari jeeps get that close to a wild animal at a time like this. “If the tiger starts counting heads on the other side, it would have stock for more than a month instead of one deer,” another user said. “How would you feel if people surrounded you and recorded while you ate?
Calls for sterner regulations on safari activities poured in through the comment section. Some called for fewer safaris to be conducted in a day, while others condemned the drivers and guides for disrespecting the space of the tiger. Comments like “This is so insensitive and disgusting” and “Utterly ridiculous that so many people are allowed near its habitat” reflected the growing frustration among wildlife lovers.

This incident reignites debates on how much wildlife tourism can be allowed to coexist with efforts at conservation. It would be argued that close approaches like these not only cause disruptions to the normal animal behavior but also endanger animals and tourists alike. So, as the debate intensifies, Ranthambore National Park and the authorities in charge of this park will be cornered into addressing these concerns with stricter guidelines for running their safaris.
