Operation Sindoor: Rajnath Singh Asserts India’s Response Was Precise, Not Provocative

New Delhi, July 16, 2025 – Defence Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the Lok Sabha on Monday during a special discussion on Operation Sindoor, India’s calibrated military response following the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians.

Speaking with determination and clarity, Singh declared, “Our actions were neither provocative nor expansionist. We halted after achieving our objectives.”

Precision Strikes Against Terror Infrastructure

In his address, the Defence Minister praised the Indian Armed Forces for their swift and precise retaliatory actions. He revealed that nine terror infrastructure sites were targeted under Operation Sindoor in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

“More than 100 terrorists, including trainers, handlers, and key operatives from organisations like Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen, were neutralised,” Singh stated confidently.

The strikes came days after the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which led to nationwide outrage and calls for decisive action. Singh clarified that India’s objective was clear: dismantle terror infrastructure without escalating regional tensions.

India’s Defence Systems Proved Impenetrable

Highlighting India’s preparedness, Singh noted the successful use of Air Defence, Counter-Drone Systems, and Electronic Warfare Equipment.

“Pakistan failed to hit any of our targets. Our assets remained untouched. Every attempted strike was completely neutralized. Our security is impregnable,” he said.

Singh bowed to the Indian Armed Forces in Parliament, saluting their unwavering dedication and commitment to protecting the nation.

‘Mission Achieved, Not Prolonged’: India Halts Operation After 4 Days

Unlike earlier military operations that extended over weeks, Operation Sindoor lasted only four days, ending once the targeted objectives were achieved.

“We did not escalate the situation. We acted with precision, purpose, and responsibility,” Singh emphasized, debunking claims of aggression from international quarters.

Opposition Demands PM Modi’s Response

While the BJP-led NDA government has stood firmly behind the operation, the Opposition, led by Deputy Leader Gaurav Gogoi, has called for further transparency.

In particular, opposition leaders demand a response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the repeated claims by former US President Donald Trump, who alleged that he helped broker a ceasefire between India and Pakistan during the operation.

Parliament Session Rocked by Protests and Resignations

The first week of the Monsoon Session has been anything but smooth. The Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor have dominated discussions, with repeated adjournments and walkouts from both Houses.

Adding fuel to the political fire was the surprise resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, which caught many lawmakers off guard.

A Strategic and Measured Operation

Operation Sindoor stands as a testimony to India’s evolving defence doctrine – precise, limited, and well-calibrated military action in the face of provocation. It reaffirmed India’s stance that counter-terrorism responses do not equate to aggression, but rather, reflect a nation’s right to defend its citizens and sovereignty.

As political debates unfold in Parliament, one fact remains undisputed: India’s Armed Forces acted with discipline, courage, and unwavering resolve.
