
Jaipur, 19 February 2025 – Finance Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari presented the Rajasthan Budget 2025-26 in the state assembly, unveiling several important welfare and development schemes. This is the second budget of the Bhajanlal Sharma government’s full term. The budget includes proposals for pension hike, empowering women, helping farmers and building infrastructure such as the Jaipur Metro.
One of the most important announcements was the increase in pension for senior citizens, widows, unmarried women, disabled persons and small and marginal farmers. The pension has been increased to Rs 1,250 per month, providing relief to the weaker sections of the society.
Giving a significant boost to the agriculture sector, the government has doubled the amount available under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana to Rs 9,000 annually. The state has also decided to recruit 100 additional veterinarians and 1,000 livestock inspectors to boost the animal husbandry sector.

Under the Lakhpati Didi Yojana, women members of self-help groups (SHGs) will now be able to avail loans up to Rs 1 lakh at a lower interest rate of 1.5% as compared to 2.25%. The scheme is likely to benefit around three lakh women from next year, promoting financial independence and entrepreneurship of women.
The state government of Rajasthan has announced the expansion of Jaipur Metro with an aim to improve public transport in the capital city. The move is expected to reduce traffic congestion and facilitate better connectivity for commuters.
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma chaired a high-level review meeting to review the implementation of last year’s budget proposals at his residence on February 16. He directed all district collectors of Jaipur division to submit a report of pending projects of 2024-25 budget within three days. He clarified that district collectors will be held accountable for the implementation of budget announcements and asked them to remove any bottlenecks by conducting on-site inspection.
During the meeting, officials from districts highlighted key concerns like drinking water, electricity, roads, health, education, tourism and transport facilities. CM Sharma directed to conduct on-site inspection to prioritise these needs on the basis of feasibility and public utility. He also directed that the approval be completed by the end of February after conducting a detailed technical assessment in pending cases.
