In a groundbreaking move set to transform property transactions across Punjab, the state government is introducing a new scheme titled ‘Easy Registration’, which will ensure property sale registrations are processed within just 48 hours. This initiative will be officially launched in Mohali on Monday by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann alongside Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal.

The new process is aimed at eliminating delays and curbing corruption in tehsil offices, a long-standing grievance among citizens dealing with property registrations. Under this scheme, residents will no longer be bound to a specific tehsil office. Instead, they will have the liberty to choose any Sub Registrar office within the district where the property is located. This flexibility is expected to make the registration process significantly more convenient, especially for those living far from the official tehsil office.
Adding to the citizen-friendly features, the government will also offer a doorstep document collection service. Once the documents are ready for submission, they can be picked up from the applicant’s residence, reducing the need for repeated physical visits to government offices. The payment process, often considered another hassle, will now be handled via Sewa Sahayaks, making it easier and more accessible for everyone.
Perhaps the most notable aspect of this reform is the launch of the ‘Anywhere Registration‘ portal. This digital platform will allow citizens to complete the majority of the registration steps online from the comfort of their homes. From document submission and payment of fees—including stamp duty—through a single payment gateway, to receiving pre-approval for sale deeds, everything can now be done remotely. After the documents are submitted online, the Sub Registrar’s office will review them promptly, ensuring that the applicant only needs to make a final visit at a scheduled time to formally sign and register the sale deed.
This initiative is being seen as a significant leap toward transparency, efficiency, and digital governance in Punjab. By simplifying the process and reducing physical interactions, the government hopes to not only save citizens time and effort but also to bring an end to the exploitative practices that have long plagued property transactions in the state.
