Prayagraj, Feb 5: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday took a holy dip at Triveni Sangam during the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. The holy ritual took place at around 11:20 am, which is performed at the confluence of Ganga-Yamuna, which is said to meet the mystical Saraswati. The Prime Minister was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

PM Modi arrived at the Maha Kumbh around 10:30 am and then went to Araali Ghat before boarding a boat to reach Sangam. Dressed in a saffron-coloured jacket and blue track pants, the Prime Minister performed puja at the holy site, chanting mantras while wearing a Rudraksha rosary. He also participated in the traditional Aarti ceremony, which signifies the importance of the spiritual event.

The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, which began on January 13 and will continue till February 26, has attracted a large number of devotees and pilgrims. As reported, over 38 crore pilgrims have visited the festival till February 5, making it the largest congregation of its kind globally.
The Maha Kumbh is held once every 12 years and holds immense religious, cultural and economic significance. It includes activities such as taking a holy dip at the Kumbh Snan, as well as folk performances as well as rich traditional music and folk dances.
PM Modi’s previous visit and development projects:
This visit comes after the PM visited the Maha Kumbh on December 13, 2024. On that occasion, he inaugurated 167 development projects worth Rs 5,500 crore. The development aims to improve connectivity, public amenities and infrastructure so that pilgrims can have a seamless experience attending the grand festival.
The Maha Kumbh is not only a spiritual gathering but also contributes immensely to the economy by boosting tourism, local business and employment opportunities. The Uttar Pradesh government has made elaborate arrangements for crowd management, security and hygiene for the smooth conduct of the event.
As the festival progresses, lakhs of people will participate in this holy ritual, reaffirming the spiritual and cultural unity of the Maha Kumbh. PM Modi’s participation in the holy bath has further added to the religious fervour of the event, inspiring devotees and strengthening the deep-rooted traditions of India’s spiritual heritage.
