New Delhi, August 2025: Farmers across the country are eagerly waiting for the PM-KISAN 21st instalment (PM-KISAN) scheme and the government has taken stringent measures to ensure that payments reach beneficiaries on time.

The PM-KISAN scheme, launched in February 2019, provides ₹6,000 annually to eligible farmers in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 each. So far, the government has transferred an average of ₹3.90 lakh crore directly into farmers’ bank accounts under 20 instalments. The 20th instalment was released on August 2, 2025 and the 21st is expected to be released between November and December 2025.
Government issues strict directions to banks
Earlier, many farmers had faced payment delays due to the following problems:
- Aadhaar number not linked to bank accounts
- Incomplete or pending e-KYC
- Incorrect bank account details (loan accounts, fixed deposits or frozen accounts)
To prevent such delays, the government has directed banks to proactively address these issues. Bank officials are now tasked to reach out to farmers directly, guiding them on KYC updates, Aadhaar linking and account correction. Regular reviews are being conducted to ensure timely corrective action.
A budget of ₹63,500 crore has been allocated exclusively for the PM-KISAN scheme for FY 2025-26.
Corrective measures at state and ground level
Ground reports suggest that the biggest hurdle in smooth money transfer is improper Aadhaar-bank account linking. To address this, corrective measures are being implemented at the state and panchayat levels.
Additionally, under the three-month financial inclusion drive that began on July 1, 2025, over 1 lakh gram panchayat-level camps have been organised. Farmers were assisted in the following tasks:
- Opening Jan Dhan accounts
- Enrolment in insurance schemes
- Completing PM-KISAN KYC formalities
These efforts are aimed at ensuring that every eligible farmer receives the benefits of the scheme without any hassles.
Eligibility and Benefits of PM-KISAN
The PM-KISAN scheme is India’s first large-scale direct income support programme for farmers. To be eligible, farmers must:
- Link their land records to Aadhaar
- Provide Aadhaar-linked bank accounts
- Complete mandatory e-KYC
If eligible, farmers will receive ₹6,000 annually in three instalments directly into their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
21st Installment Deadline
- 20th Installment Deposit: August 2, 2025
- 21st Installment Expected: November-December 2025 (3-4 months after previous installment)
Farmers are advised to complete e-KYC, Aadhaar seeding and update their bank details as soon as possible to avoid delay in receiving funds.
