Kiren Rijiju confirms session dates; Opposition leaders urge for dedicated debate on Operation Sindoor

Parliament Monsoon Session 2025: In a crucial political development, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju announced on Wednesday that the 2025 Monsoon Session of Parliament will run from July 21 to August 12.
The announcement follows growing pressure from the opposition for a special session dedicated to discussing Operation Sindoor, a subject they claim demands immediate national attention.
The Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, made the decision during its recent meeting. Rijiju informed the media that the committee has recommended the session dates, and all necessary preparations are underway to ensure smooth proceedings.
Opposition Calls for Dedicated Discussion on Operation Sindoor
Leaders from multiple opposition parties have been urging the Centre to call a special session focused solely on Operation Sindoor, alleging that the issue involves serious national security and political transparency concerns. However, the government appears inclined to address the matter within the scope of the upcoming Monsoon Session.
Responding to reporters’ questions about the opposition’s demand, Kiren Rijiju said,
“All issues, including those raised by the opposition, can be discussed during the Monsoon Session under the established rules.”
This signals the government’s intent to maintain parliamentary norms while still leaving room for discussions on sensitive subjects like Operation Sindoor.
What to Expect from the Parliament Monsoon Session 2025
Lawmakers are expected to engage in intense debates during the Parliament Monsoon Session 2025 as political temperatures rise ahead of the winter. In addition to Operation Sindoor, other key matters such as economic policies, unemployment, and the agrarian crisis are also likely to be part of the parliamentary discourse.
With both ruling and opposition parties preparing for a heated legislative exchange, this session could significantly shape the political narrative heading into the latter half of the year.
As the stage sets for a stormy Monsoon Session, all eyes will be on the Parliament from July 21 to August 12. The government must now decide whether to hold a dedicated discussion on Operation Sindoor or address it as part of the session’s broader agenda.
