HOUSTON, Texas – Andrew Taake, a convicted January 6 rioter who was recently pardoned by former President Donald Trump, was arrested in Texas on Tuesday on a pending 2016 charge of soliciting sex from a minor online.
Andrew Taake was arrested at 11:30 a.m. by the Harris County District Attorney’s Fugitive Apprehension Section and other law enforcement agencies who located his residence in Leon County. A surveillance operation was conducted before he was arrested.
Andrew Taake was an inmate at a federal prison in Florence, Colorado when he was released on January 20. He was released due to Trump’s presidential pardon. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) requested federal authority to take him into custody due to a pending state warrant against him, but officers claimed they needed a certified warrant to prevent him from getting out. His copy was faxed on January 15, yet he was out five days later.
Harris County District Attorney Sean Teare said, “We would like to thank the coordinated efforts of our office’s Fugitive Apprehension Section, the Leon County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety for taking this suspected child predator back into custody.”
Once Taake was in custody, Harris County officials revoked his bond. Harris County officials are still working closely with Leon County officials to transfer him into custody at the Harris County Jail awaiting legal proceedings.
