Nurse Molested and Assaulted by Ambulance Driver at Private Hospital in Uttar Pradesh

Nurse molested in Uttar Pradesh: In a deeply disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves across Uttar Pradesh, a 22-year-old nurse was allegedly molested, physically assaulted, and dragged by her hair by an ambulance driver at a private hospital. The horrifying act took place on June 5 and came to light after police registered a formal case. The accused, identified as Rohit alias Mohit, is currently absconding, according to officials.

A Routine Day Turns Violent

The young nurse was reportedly attending a phone call when Rohit approached her in an aggressive manner and began molesting her. When she objected and tried to resist, the situation escalated. Rohit allegedly grabbed her by the hair, struck her repeatedly, and threw her to the ground in a brutal assault.

According to Kotwali SHO Sachidanand Pandey, “The accused also engaged in obscene acts and put his hand inside the victim’s clothes. The incident occurred inside the hospital premises, a place that should have been safe for her.”

Staff Rush to Her Rescue

The nurse’s screams for help quickly drew the attention of doctors and hospital staff present nearby. They intervened promptly, rescuing her from the attacker’s grip. The staff reportedly scolded the accused and forced him to leave the premises.

Hospital sources revealed that Rohit was a familiar face at the facility, regularly bringing patients in his ambulance. “No one could have imagined such an act from someone who had become a known face around here,” a staff member said under the condition of anonymity.

Police Launch Manhunt for Accused

Following the nurse’s complaint, a formal case was registered against Rohit under several serious sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)

  • Section 76 (Assault or use of criminal force with intent to disrobe),
  • Section 352 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and
  • Section 115(2) (Voluntarily causing hurt).

SHO Pandey confirmed that the accused is on the run and that efforts are underway to track him down. “We are actively pursuing leads. The accused will be arrested soon, and strict legal action will be taken,” he said.

Public Outrage and Call for Stricter Measures

The incident has sparked public outrage, with many demanding stronger security protocols in hospitals and swift justice for the victim. Women’s rights activists have condemned the attack, calling it a grim reminder of the growing concerns over the safety of female healthcare workers.

“This is not just about one nurse. It’s about creating a safe environment for every woman at the workplace. Hospitals must not only heal bodies but must also protect their staff from such predators,” said a women’s rights advocate based in Lucknow.

A Plea for Justice

The young nurse, still recovering from the trauma, has called for justice and stronger safeguards for medical workers. “I was just doing my job. I never thought something like this could happen in a hospital,” she reportedly told investigators.

As the search for Rohit continues, the spotlight is now on the need for improved hospital security, proper vetting of outsourced workers, and the implementation of zero-tolerance policies for gender-based violence in workplaces.
