Nitish Reddy's Father Mutyala Reddy Touches Gavaskar's Feet; Emotional Video Goes Viral

Nitish Reddy’s Father Mutyala Reddy Touches Gavaskar’s Feet: In a heartfelt moment, which echoed all cricket-lovers around the globe, it was the father of India’s latest cricket sensation Nitish Reddy who touched legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar’s feet in a gesture that is simply emotive for words. This was post the encounter with Mutyala Reddy after being escorted into the official broadcaster’s box following Nitish’s maiden Test century against Australia.

The legendary Gavaskar, now a renowned commentator, met the Reddy family a day after Nitish’s remarkable innings of 114 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Acknowledging the sacrifices made by the family, Gavaskar praised their dedication, stating that Indian cricket has gained a “gem” due to their efforts. The emotional meeting and the blessings exchanged were captured on video, which quickly went viral on social media.

A Father’s Sacrifices and a Son’s Triumph

Speaking to PTI, Mutyalu Reddy recalled the nerve-wracking moments when Nitish Reddy was batting on 99 and the team had lost its ninth wicket. Mohammed Siraj, India’s pace bowler, faced three dot balls against Pat Cummins, allowing Nitish to complete his century.

I was tense when Siraj bhai came to bat, thinking he might get out. Thanks to him for supporting my son,” said Mutyalu emotionally.

The Reddy family, visiting Australia for the first time, was very proud of Nitish’s achievement. Mutyalu’s daughter, Tejaswi, translated the questions for her father during the interaction. “He promised he’d make us proud, and he did,” she said, recalling how the family overcame initial hesitations about traveling due to language barriers.

Nitish’s cricketing journey is deeply intertwined with his father’s sacrifices. “My father never carried food for himself, only for Nitish. He’d travel hundreds of kilometers daily and wait until practice ended,” Tejaswi shared, her voice filled with admiration for her father’s dedication.

Nitish Reddy’s century celebration was equally emotional, as he knelt to give a “Salaar” tribute to his father, inspired by actor Prabhas.

Tejaswi gave all the credit for her brother’s strength to their parents. “His strength comes from our mother, Sharmila, who ensured he faced no difficulty, whether traveling for cricket or being at home,” she said.

Sharmila, Nitish Reddy’s mother, was asked about her son’s favorite food and she smiled, “He loves non-vegetarian food, especially fish and mutton gongura, a spicy Andhra curry.”

Nitish Reddy’s meteoric rise is bound to change his life, but his sister believes he will stay grounded. “He has seen struggles. Coming from a humble background where pursuing cricket professionally was almost impossible, he knows the value of everything,” Tejaswi said confidently.

As Indian cricket celebrates its new hero, the story of the Reddy family’s inspiring sacrifice, determination, and triumph is one to remind everyone of the endless efforts that lie behind every victory.
