Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh – A shocking video allegedly showing a local political figure engaged in an inappropriate act with a woman on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway has stirred controversy in Madhya Pradesh’s political circles. The man seen in the viral footage has been identified as Manohar Lal Dhakad, a local leader from Mandsaur, and husband of Sohan Bai, a BJP-backed district panchayat member from Ward No. 8.

High-security CCTV cameras on the expressway captured Dhakad’s white car parked along the road, where he was allegedly seen in a compromising position with a woman. The location, one of the busiest stretches of the newly constructed expressway, adds to the severity of the matter.

Following public outrage and media pressure, the Bhawani Mandi police registered an FIR against Manohar Lal Dhakad and another individual on May 23. The charges include IPC Section 296 (public obscenity), Section 285 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), and Section 3(5) (group offence) under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Dhakad is currently absconding, and law enforcement authorities are actively searching for him. Transportation department records confirmed that the vehicle seen in the video is registered in his name.

Political Angle Sparks Tensions

The case has snowballed into a political row. As Manohar’s wife, Sohan Bai, is a BJP-supported member of the district panchayat, the opposition has seized the opportunity to question the ruling party’s silence and alleged double standards.

Madhya Pradesh Congress leader Jitu Patwari was quick to attack the BJP, stating on X (formerly Twitter),
“Mandsaur BJP leader Manohar Lal Dhakad caught in a compromising act on the 8-lane expressway! BJP remains silent even after 48 hours – afraid of losing its majority in the district panchayat? Will they tolerate such misconduct for power?”

The BJP currently holds a fragile lead in the Mandsaur district panchayat with nine members, just one ahead of the Congress, which has eight. Any shake-up caused by action against Dhakad could tip the balance of power.

BJP Responds, Denies Primary Membership

In response to mounting pressure, BJP district president Rajesh Dixit issued a clarification, distancing the party from the accused.
“Manohar Lal Dhakad is a resident of Bani village, but he is not a primary member of the BJP. His wife, Sohan Bai, serves as a district panchayat member,” he said.

The clarification, however, has done little to quell the storm, as critics continue to link the party to Dhakad through his wife’s active political role under BJP’s banner.

Law Enforcement and Community Reaction

DIG Manoj Singh of the Ratlam Range confirmed that the video appears to have been recorded on the new eight-lane expressway.
“Acts like these in public spaces are not only legal violations but also an affront to public decency and social values,” he said, assuring that police are investigating the case with due seriousness and strict action will follow.

In the wake of the scandal, the Dhakad Mahasabha Yuva Sangh has removed Manohar Lal Dhakad from his post as National Secretary. The organization’s national president, Arjun Dhakad, stated that the decision was taken to uphold the group’s reputation.
