Manohar Lal Dhakad Bail: In a sensational development from Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur district, the alleged BJP leader Manohar Lal Dhakad has been granted bail just a day after his surrender. Dhakad was at the center of a storm after a controversial video surfaced showing a man engaged in an obscene act with a woman on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The video, which quickly went viral on various social media platforms, triggered widespread outrage and forced the police to register a case.

Following massive public and political pressure, Manohar Lal Dhakad surrendered at Bhapura police station on Sunday and was granted bail on Monday. Speaking to the media for the first time after the incident, Dhakad denied all allegations. “The man in the video is not me. The car being used to identify me was sold some time ago,” he said, asserting his innocence.

Manohar Lal Dhakad also distanced himself from the Bharatiya Janata Party, saying, “I have no official connection with the BJP. My wife is a BJP-supported district panchayat member, but I am not a member of the party.” This statement came after the party reportedly reprimanded him over the scandal.
Interestingly, Manohar Lal Dhakad revealed plans to file a defamation case against the expressway management, claiming that he was being falsely implicated. “I will take legal action against those responsible for damaging my image,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the case has taken a new turn with allegations of blackmail. According to sources, Manohar Lal Dhakad informed the police that toll employees had demanded ₹1 lakh in exchange for deleting the objectionable CCTV footage. He allegedly paid ₹20,000 on the spot, with the rest to be paid later. However, when the deal fell through, the footage was allegedly converted into screen recordings and leaked online eight days later.
While Manohar Lal Dhakad has not publicly spoken about the blackmail claims, Ratlam DIG Manoj Kumar Singh confirmed that the police are now investigating the toll workers involved in recording and distributing the footage. “We are probing the role of toll staff in the distribution of the viral video. If blackmailing is confirmed, strict action will be taken,” Singh said.
Further investigation has revealed that the viral content circulating online actually originates from a single 7-minute and 27-second video. Toll booth staff are believed to have split the footage into three segments, which were then shared widely across social media. The incident reportedly occurred on May 13 between 8:22 PM and 8:29 PM.
As the investigation continues, the case remains under intense public and media scrutiny. With serious allegations on both sides—ranging from public indecency to extortion—law enforcement officials are under pressure to get to the bottom of the controversy and deliver justice.
