Maharashtra Cabinet Expansion Live : The much-awaited cabinet expansion of the BJP-led Maharashtra government took place today at Raj Bhavan, Nagpur, marking another milestone in the state’s political landscape. A total of 32 leaders from the Mahayuti coalition (comprising BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP) were sworn in as ministers in a grand ceremony that commenced at 4:00 PM.

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis along with deputy CMs Eknath Shinde (Shiv Sena) and Ajit Pawar (NCP), led the dignitaries who attended the ceremony after national anthem followed by officiating oath of office done by Governor CP Radhakrishnan.

Key BJP leaders such as Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Chandrakant Patil, and Mangal Prabhat Lodha, among others, were part of the first batch of taking oath. Prominent BJP leader Pankaja Munde also took oath as a cabinet minister, indicating that her position in state politics will remain unchanged.

Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Shirsat, Pratap Sarnaik, Bharat Gogawale, and Uday Samant made it to the cabinet. Sena MLA Dada Bhuse, who was earlier in the previous government, got a continuation. Leaders of Ajit Pawar’s faction in NCP, including Hasan Mushrif, Makrand Jadhav-Patil, and Aditi Tatkare, made the oath. The entry of Tatkare-the only woman minister from the NCP side shows there is an attempt to try for a balance in terms of gender representation.

A few new faces were sworn in as ministers, which indicates the generational shift within Mahayuti. Manikrao Kokate, Jaikumar Rawal, and Meghana Bordikar have been included in the new cabinet.

In the midst of the cabinet expansion, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) – an alliance of Congress, NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena – boycotted a tea party hosted by the government before the winter session of the legislature. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Ambadas Danve said that the boycott was against the policies of the government.

This expansion is nearly 10 days after Devendra Fadnavis took oath as Chief Minister, along with his deputies Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar. The Mahayuti coalition had won a thumping majority in the assembly elections, winning 230 out of 288 seats. The BJP emerged as the largest party with 132 seats, followed by Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena faction (57 seats) and Ajit Pawar’s NCP faction (41 seats).

The inclusion of 32 ministers reflects the coalition’s effort to maintain internal harmony while accommodating leaders from all three parties. The Maharashtra cabinet now moves closer to its constitutional limit of 43 members, with further expansions expected in the coming months.

And in an end to the event was seen in the national anthem sung that day and left Nagpur at the heart of the political developments of Maharashtra. Now as the winter session begins in the legislature, attention is keenly focused on a newly enlarged cabinet and what that can bring for the state’s citizens.

Girish Mahajan to take oath

BJP MLA Girish Mahajan said that he has been appointed as minister. He has been informed through a call that the state BJP Chief is making.

“State BJP Chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule called me and said that I have to take oath (as Maharashtra Minister) at 4 pm. I will take oath as minister for the third time. I express gratitude to the party, Mahajan told ANI.
