Prayagraj, February 7, 2025 – No casualties were reported in the massive fire that broke out on Shankaracharya Marg in Sector 18 on Friday during the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela. “Around 15 tents have been affected due to the fire,” officials said. They added that no major accident was reported in the stampede.
Mahakumbh Sector 18 Fire: Know what happened
The fire broke out in an open space near Tulsi Chauraha on the old GT Road. Firefighters and policemen from the area immediately rushed to the spot to douse the fire. “The fire has almost been brought under control,” said Yogesh Chaturvedi, inspector of Khak Chowk police station. Chief Fire Officer Pramod Sharma said no one was reported seriously injured in the incident.
Fire department officials are in charge of the operation and all rescue operations are being conducted accordingly. Sharma said, “Though it was extremely difficult to reach such a small place due to the road conditions, the firefighters were able to douse the fire within a few minutes.”
An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire. No official statement has been made about the cause of the fire yet.
Previous incidents of fire at Maha Kumbh 2025
This is the third incident of fire at Maha Kumbh 2025. The mela began on January 13 and will conclude on February 26. Last month, a massive fire broke out in Sector 19 due to a cylinder blast, causing massive destruction without any casualties. Another fire broke out in Sector 2 on January 25, when two parked cars caught fire. However, the quick action of the firefighters meant that the fire was doused before it could spread.
Incidents of fire have been reported at several places; However, the administration is not worried. Rather, they ensure that safety precautions are taken in case of an accident. Followers are directed to stay alert during Maha Kumbh and avoid accidents.
