Kanpur History-Sheeter Meets PM Modi: A viral photo showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi standing with a man identified as Sandeep Singh, alias Sandeep Thakur, has raised serious concerns about the vetting process of individuals allowed access to the country’s highest office. The photo, originally uploaded on Sandeep’s Facebook profile, has triggered a wave of criticism and disbelief across social and political circles.

Sandeep Thakur is not an ordinary citizen. He is a well-known history-sheeter from Kanpur’s Barra police station, with a history sheet numbered A-1299. He faces a staggering list of 27 criminal cases including charges of murder, attempt to murder, fraud, rioting, assault, and illegal possession of firearms. In fact, back in 2002, Sandeep was even booked under the National Security Act (NSA), reflecting the severity of his criminal background.

According to police records, his name has appeared repeatedly in cases filed across various police stations in Kanpur and beyond — including Barra, Naubasta, Kidwainagar, Govind Nagar, Kalyanpur, Panki, Sachendi, and Rae Bareli’s Sareni police station. Between 2002 and 2015, case after case was registered against him, although it remains unclear how many of those have been dismissed or withdrawn over time.
There are also whispers suggesting that his history sheet has conveniently disappeared from police records. While this cannot be independently confirmed at the moment, the very possibility raises unsettling questions about administrative transparency and accountability.
The most shocking part? Sandeep Thakur was reportedly listed at number 22 in a group of 25 individuals cleared to meet PM Modi during his departure at the Kanpur Airport. Next to his name, the designation “Regional Convenor – Election Cell” was noted. It appears the administration either failed to cross-check his background or willfully ignored it. Either way, it paints a grim picture of the due diligence conducted by officials from Kanpur to Lucknow.
Was the Prime Minister’s Office given incorrect information? If so, who is responsible for this glaring lapse? Sandeep’s notorious record isn’t just limited to himself; reports suggest his father and brother are also facing multiple criminal cases, making it a family affair shrouded in controversy.
The optics of a person with such a tainted history standing beside the Prime Minister of India are not just uncomfortable — they are dangerous. This is not merely a security oversight; it is potentially an intentional breach of protocol that risks the dignity and image of the Prime Minister himself.
Shouldn’t such a lapse invite serious inquiry and accountability from the highest administrative echelons in Uttar Pradesh? And more importantly, does this incident not demand swift and transparent action against those responsible for allowing a known criminal into such close proximity with the country’s leader?
These are questions the nation deserves answers to — and urgently.
