Kamal R Khan, popularly known as KRK, has been taken into custody by the Mumbai Police in connection with a firing incident that took place in the Oshiwara area of Mumbai. The incident came to light after gunshots were reported at a residential building, triggering concern among local residents and prompting an immediate police investigation.

According to police officials, multiple rounds were fired in the direction of a residential complex, leading to damage to the building. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Following forensic analysis and questioning, the police traced the source of the firing to KRK’s bungalow, after which he was detained and later arrested.
Why did Kamal R Khan fire the bullets?
During police interrogation, Kamal R Khan admitted to firing the shots using his licensed firearm. In his statement, he told investigators that the incident occurred while he was cleaning his gun at his residence. KRK claimed that he fired the bullets to check whether the weapon was functioning properly and had no intention of harming anyone.
He further explained that he aimed the gun towards a mangrove forest located in front of his house, believing that the bullets would be absorbed by the dense greenery. However, police said that due to wind direction and other environmental factors, the bullets travelled beyond the mangroves and struck a nearby residential building in Oshiwara.
Police officials have stated that they are verifying whether safety protocols were followed while handling the firearm and whether negligence played a role in the incident. The exact motive behind the firing is still under investigation.
Director’s house in Oshiwara
The residential building hit by the gunfire reportedly houses flats belonging to a film writer, a director, and a model. Residents of the building were alarmed after hearing loud sounds resembling gunshots, after which the police were informed. Upon inspection, authorities recovered at least two bullets from the building premises.
Initially, the source of the firing was unclear. A forensic team was later deployed to examine bullet trajectories and impact marks. Based on their findings, police concluded that the shots were likely fired from Kamal R Khan’s bungalow located nearby.
Following this development, Mumbai Police questioned KRK, during which he confessed to firing the shots. He has since been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. Police officials confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and further action will be taken based on the findings.
