Jalaun MMS Case : A heart-wrenching case of domestic violence from Uttar Pradesh’s Jalaun district has surfaced, leaving even authorities stunned by the sheer brutality involved. A newly married woman approached State Women’s Commission Chairperson Babita Chauhan during a public hearing and narrated a story of torture that left the officials numb.
According to the victim, her husband and in-laws allegedly subjected her to months of physical, mental, and emotional torture, all in the name of dowry. What began as taunts soon turned into violence, and eventually escalated into unimaginable cruelty.

Survivor Reveals Harrowing Ordeal
The woman revealed that soon after marriage, her husband began assaulting her regularly. He controlled her food, restricted her movement, and cut her off from her family. As her resistance grew, the cruelty intensified.
In a shocking revelation, she told officials that her husband locked her inside an iron cage. When she tried to oppose the abuse or escape, he allegedly recorded an explicit MMS of her and threatened to leak it on social media. According to the woman, this MMS was later circulated online to humiliate her further and destroy her dignity.
Police Rescue and Vicious Retaliation
When local authorities learned about the confinement, the police intervened and freed the woman from the iron enclosure. However, the husband’s harassment did not end there. In order to intimidate her further, he reportedly filed false cases against her after the rescue.
The woman, visibly shaken while narrating her ordeal, handed over a written complaint to Chairperson Babita Chauhan during the public hearing at the Rani Laxmibai Auditorium in Orai.
Chauhan expressed shock over the details and assured strict action. She also instructed the district administration and police officials present to initiate a thorough investigation and ensure the woman’s safety.
The Dowry Angle Deepens the Horror
The survivor stated that her marriage took place in Moth town of Jhansi district. From the very beginning, dowry demands reportedly dominated her married life. When she and her family could not meet those demands, the husband allegedly turned into what she described as a “jallad” (executioner).
The systematic physical assault, psychological manipulation, deprivation of food, and threats using the MMS paint a grim picture of ongoing dowry-related violence in the region.
Women’s Commission Calls for Swift Justice
Chairperson Chauhan termed the case “deeply disturbing” and emphasized that no woman should face such barbarity within her own home. She directed officials to provide legal assistance, medical support, and protection to the survivor.
She also ensured that the Commission would closely monitor the investigation so that the accused cannot escape accountability.
