IndiGo Launches Daily Direct Flight Between Chandigarh and Navi Mumbai, Announces 30+ New Routes

In a major boost to air connectivity in northern India, IndiGo has announced a daily direct flight between Chandigarh and Navi Mumbai as part of its ambitious expansion plan from the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport.

The airline revealed that it will roll out more than 30 new routes from the new airport, with services being introduced in phases between March 29 and April 23. The move marks a significant step in expanding regional connectivity and strengthening IndiGo’s domestic network.

Daily Direct Flight Between Chandigarh and Navi Mumbai

Under the new schedule, Chandigarh will be connected to Navi Mumbai with a daily non-stop service starting immediately as part of the first phase of expansion.

According to the airline’s announced timetable:

  • Departure from Navi Mumbai: 4:50 PM
  • Departure from Chandigarh: 7:35 PM

The route will make travel between the two cities faster and more convenient for both business and leisure travellers.

With Chandigarh being an important administrative and commercial hub for Punjab and Haryana, the new direct connection is expected to significantly improve travel options for passengers flying to and from the Mumbai metropolitan region.

IndiGo Expands Network With 30+ New Routes

The expansion from Navi Mumbai is one of the largest network rollouts announced by IndiGo in recent months. Once fully operational, the airline will operate more than 400 weekly departures from the airport.

This will position Navi Mumbai as a major hub in IndiGo’s domestic network, helping reduce congestion at the main Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

Several important cities across India will now be connected directly with Navi Mumbai, including:

  • Agra
  • Ayodhya
  • Bagdogra
  • Belgaum
  • Diu
  • Kannur
  • Kolkata
  • Patna
  • Rajkot
  • Srinagar
  • Varanasi
  • Visakhapatnam

The airline said this expansion is aimed at improving point-to-point travel and reducing dependency on overcrowded metro airports.

Strong Focus on Gujarat Connectivity

IndiGo has also strengthened its presence in Gujarat as part of the expansion plan.

A twice-daily direct flight between Bhavnagar and Navi Mumbai started operations on Sunday. These flights are operated using ATR aircraft, which are commonly used for regional routes.

The airline also confirmed that direct flights to Jamnagar will begin from April 23, marking the final phase of the current expansion cycle.

With these additions, IndiGo will now connect six major cities in Gujarat, including:

  • Ahmedabad
  • Vadodara
  • Surat
  • Rajkot
  • Bhavnagar
  • Jamnagar

Overall, the airline will operate more than 1,400 weekly flights to and from Gujarat, reflecting strong demand for industrial and business travel.

Focus on Tier-II and Tier-III Cities

In addition to major destinations, IndiGo is also expanding connectivity to smaller regional cities. New routes will include destinations such as:

  • Jharsuguda
  • Jabalpur
  • Durgapur

Flights to destinations like Bareilly, Kannur, and Jammu will be launched in phases starting March 30 and March 31, with additional frequencies planned for early April.

The final phase of the rollout will take place on April 23, when the Jamnagar route becomes operational.

What This Means for Travellers

The launch of the Chandigarh–Navi Mumbai direct flight is expected to make travel between northern India and the Mumbai region faster, more convenient, and less congested.

Industry experts believe the expansion will:

  • Improve connectivity for business and tourism travel
  • Reduce pressure on major metro airports
  • Strengthen regional air connectivity across India

For passengers in Chandigarh and surrounding regions, the new flight offers a direct gateway to the Mumbai metropolitan area without the need for connecting flights.
