Indian shooters Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar and Swapnil Kusale competed in this event at the Paris 2024 Olympics. On his Olympic debut, Kusale scored 590-38x to finish seventh in the qualification, while Tomar scored 589-33x, ranking 11th. Only the top eight shooters advanced to the final, so Tomar did not qualify.
Liu Yukun of the People’s Republic of China set a qualification Olympic record with a total score of 594-38x.
Swapnil Kusale made history as the first Indian shooter to reach the Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions medal event at the Olympics.
Earlier in the Paris Olympics, Manu Bhaker earned India’s first medal with a bronze in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol event. This marked a redemption for Bhaker, who had faced a pistol malfunction at the Tokyo Olympics. She became the first Indian woman in 20 years to reach an individual shooting final since Suma Shirur in 2004.
Additionally, Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh triumphed over South Korea’s Lee Wonho and Oh Ye Jin with a 16-10 victory in the bronze medal play-off of the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event.
