Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, during his visit to Srinagar post Operation Sindoor, said India is not a votary of war but will not hesitate to respond if its sovereignty is threatened. He praised Indian forces for their strong retaliation against terrorism.

Srinagar, May 15, 2025 — In a powerful statement made from the heart of Jammu and Kashmir, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh affirmed that while India has never supported war, the country will not remain silent if its sovereignty is attacked.
Addressing Indian Army troops in Srinagar on Thursday, during his first visit to the region post-Operation Sindoor, the Defence Minister underlined India’s zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism. “India is not a votary of war. But when our nation’s sovereignty is challenged, we will respond with full strength,” he declared, sparking applause from the forces gathered.
Operation Sindoor: India’s Biggest Counter-Terrorism Move
Rajnath Singh hailed Operation Sindoor as the biggest action India has taken against terrorism to date. The operation, launched in response to increasing cross-border terrorist threats, has sent a strong message across the globe, showcasing India’s readiness to defend its borders and people.
“We have made it clear to the entire world that India will go to any extent to eliminate terrorism. Our armed forces have shown unmatched bravery and discipline,” Singh emphasized.
Reviewing Security in J&K
The Defence Minister arrived in Srinagar earlier in the day to review the overall security scenario and assess combat preparedness in the Union Territory. His visit comes at a crucial time when tensions have escalated following recent terrorist activities.
During his address to the troops, Singh recalled the pain inflicted on India by decades of cross-border terrorism. He particularly condemned the recent Pahalgam terror strike, describing it as “an attempt to strike at the forehead of India and break our social unity.”
India’s Fierce Retaliation
Referring to India’s strong retaliatory actions on terrorist infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), Rajnath Singh stated, “We have not only protected ourselves but inflicted wounds on their chest. Our operations were precise and strong — a warning to all who dare challenge India’s unity and integrity.”
Rising Morale Among Troops
The visit has significantly boosted the morale of the armed forces stationed in Jammu and Kashmir. Many soldiers expressed pride in the Defence Minister’s acknowledgment of their courage and commitment. “His words motivate us to continue our duty with even greater resolve,” said one soldier posted near the LoC.
