Himayani Puri, daughter of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, has approached the Delhi High Court seeking the removal of social media posts that allegedly link her to disgraced American financier Jeffrey Epstein. In her legal petition, she has also demanded ₹10 crore as damages, claiming that a coordinated online campaign attempted to spread false and defamatory information about her.
According to the lawsuit, a wave of misleading content began appearing online around February 22, 2026. The petition states that several posts, articles, videos and digital materials were widely circulated across platforms including X, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and multiple digital news portals. These posts allegedly suggested that Himayani Puri had direct or indirect financial, business or personal connections with Jeffrey Epstein.
In the filing before the Delhi High Court, Himayani Puri strongly denied these allegations and described them as completely false and malicious. She told the court that the claims had no factual basis and were part of a deliberate attempt to damage her reputation. The petition says the campaign was amplified through various social media platforms and online publications, causing serious harm to her personal and professional credibility.
Himayani Puri, who describes herself as an accomplished finance and investment professional, argued that she has been unfairly targeted because of her family background. Being the daughter of a senior cabinet minister, she claims, has made her an easy target for those attempting to create sensational narratives online.
Through the lawsuit, she has requested the court to direct the removal of all defamatory content from digital platforms and restrain the responsible parties from further publishing or sharing such material. In addition to the takedown of the content, she has also sought an unconditional public apology and formal retraction from the individuals and entities responsible for spreading the allegations.
The petition emphasizes that the accusations linking her to Jeffrey Epstein are entirely baseless and devoid of any factual foundation. It states that such claims not only mislead the public but also inflict serious reputational damage.
Jeffrey Epstein, who died in 2019 while awaiting trial in the United States, was widely known for running an international sex trafficking network involving minors. Because of the global controversy surrounding his case and the powerful figures allegedly linked to him, even unverified associations with Epstein can lead to significant reputational consequences.
Legal sources indicate that the matter is likely to be heard in the Delhi High Court later this week. The case is expected to focus on the removal of the alleged defamatory material and could also raise broader questions about accountability and regulation of misinformation on social media platforms.
