In a deeply tragic incident that has shaken the East London community, 30-year-old British Sikh man Gurmuk Singh, fondly known as Gary, was stabbed to death last week in Ilford, East London. The fatal attack occurred on Felbrigge Road on July 23, 2025. A Family and Community in Mourning
In a heartfelt statement released by the Metropolitan Police, Gurmuk Singh’s family described him as a beloved and vibrant soul who brought joy wherever he went.
“Gary was a well-loved man who had a remarkable ability to connect with everyone he met,” the family said.
“A true social butterfly, nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by his family. Gary will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in our hearts forever.”
Police Reassure Local Community
Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, from the Met’s Specialist Crime North Unit, labeled the incident an “isolated” one, believed to involve individuals known to each other.
“An incident of this nature sends shockwaves throughout the local area and we understand the direct impact on the community,” she said.
“Residents will see an increased police presence in the area. Please speak with officers if you have concerns or information.”
