A New Year holiday turned into heartbreak for a government school teacher Preeti Sharma from Ghaziabad after she traveled more than 300 kilometers to Nainital and found her husband celebrating with another woman.
The woman, Preeti Sharma (35), said she had been enduring emotional and financial neglect for nearly two years. Her husband, Abhishek Sharma (43), works as a software engineer and earns around ₹1 lakh per month, yet, according to Preeti, he did not contribute anything toward household expenses or their son’s needs.
Affair With Younger Colleague
Preeti alleged that Abhishek had been in a relationship with a much younger colleague from his company. She said the woman is 19 years younger and has been working alongside him for some time. The affair, she claimed, slowly destroyed their marriage and left her isolated and helpless.
On New Year’s Day, when Abhishek stopped answering her calls, Preeti discovered that he had gone to Nainital with the same woman to celebrate the holiday. Determined to confront him, she traveled there with her sister and relatives.

After arriving in the hill town, Preeti searched hotel after hotel for three days. When she finally found Abhishek with his girlfriend, she said the sight shattered her emotionally. “That moment broke me completely,” she told authorities later.
The incident has sparked widespread discussion about marital neglect and emotional betrayal, with many people expressing sympathy for Preeti’s situation.
Sources say she is now considering legal action against her husband on grounds of cruelty and abandonment.
