According to the Delhi Fire Service, they received an emergency call around 8:55 PM. In response, 13 fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the site to control the blaze.
“We received a call regarding a fire at Dilli Haat Market INA at 8:55 PM. Thirteen fire engines are currently deployed at the location. The operation is still in progress,” said a Delhi Fire Service official.
Cause of Fire at Dilli Haat Yet to Be Determined
As of now, the exact cause of the fire remains unknown. Authorities have initiated an investigation, and fire department personnel are working tirelessly to completely extinguish the flames and prevent any possible flare-ups.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as “chaotic and terrifying,” with plumes of smoke rising high above the popular marketplace. The fire reportedly spread quickly due to the wooden structures of many stalls and shops.
