Dharmasthala Case Big Update : – A shocking twist has emerged in the sensational case of alleged mass rapes, murders, and secret burials in Dharmasthala. The complainant, a former sanitation worker who had raised these grave allegations, has now been arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Saturday.

According to official sources, the SIT—headed by Pranab Mohanty—interrogated the complainant for several hours on Friday before taking him into custody. Authorities stated that the arrest was made after “serious inconsistencies” were found in his statements and the documents he submitted during the probe.
Allegations That Rocked Dharmasthala
The complainant, whose identity has not been publicly disclosed, had worked in Dharmasthala between 1995 and 2014. He claimed that during this period, he was allegedly forced to bury numerous bodies, including those of women and minors. In his testimony, he alleged that some of the bodies bore signs of sexual assault and violence.
His explosive claims sent shockwaves across Karnataka, as he not only accused local authorities of being complicit but also hinted at a long-standing cover-up of heinous crimes in the pilgrimage town of Dharmasthala.
SIT’s Response and Ongoing Investigation
The SIT, which was set up to investigate these allegations, has maintained that the claims cannot be dismissed outright but require solid proof. “We are committed to uncovering the truth. The arrest was made purely on the basis of discrepancies in the evidence provided. The investigation is very much on,” an official said.
Officials confirmed that the complainant had also recorded a statement before a magistrate, reiterating his allegations of rape and murder, but his testimonies reportedly conflicted with the material evidence gathered so far.
A Sensitive and High-Profile Case
The case has sparked widespread attention because Dharmasthala is not only a major religious and cultural hub but also known for its long-standing reputation of social and spiritual service. The allegations, if proven true, could tarnish the legacy of the region.
Human rights activists and opposition leaders have demanded transparency in the probe, insisting that the SIT must ensure that neither the complainant nor potential victims are denied justice.
What Lies Ahead?
While the complainant is now under arrest, the SIT has assured that its investigation will continue with “unbiased diligence.” The arrest, officials say, does not mean the case is closed but rather that the claims need to be backed by concrete evidence.
For now, Karnataka waits anxiously as investigators dig deeper into what could either be one of the most disturbing cover-ups in recent history—or a case of misleading accusations that shook an entire community.
