A 16-year-old student from a reputed St. Columba’s School in Delhi died by suicide earlier this week, leaving behind a disturbing note accusing his teachers of harassment and humiliation. The Class 10 student, who reportedly dreamt of becoming an actor like Shah Rukh Khan, jumped from the Rajendra Place Metro Station on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the incident took place around 2:34 pm, shortly after the boy stayed back at school for a drama club session. His school bag was recovered from the station, and inside it, officers found a handwritten note where he apologised to his family and blamed certain teachers for his decision.
A Dream and a Breaking Point
According to friends, the teenager was passionate about acting and often spoke about wanting to be “the next Shah Rukh Khan.” However, on the day of the incident, that dream reportedly became a subject of humiliation.
One of his classmates told reporters that during the drama session, the boy slipped and fell. Instead of offering help, a teacher allegedly mocked him and accused him of “overacting” in front of others. Witnesses claim he cried during the incident, but the teacher allegedly responded saying they “did not care.”
His father later recalled, “He was very excited about drama club. But something happened there that shattered him.”
What the Suicide Note Revealed
The note found in his bag paints a painful picture. In it, he apologised repeatedly to his mother, father, and elder brother. He requested that his organs be donated if possible and wrote that he never wanted another child to face the same experience.
One sentence from the note stands out:
“Meri last wish hai inke upar action le. I don’t want any other child to go through what I did.”
The boy also wrote that continuous scolding and humiliation had pushed him to the edge.
Family Says Complaints Were Ignored
The family claims this was not an isolated incident. They said the boy had been struggling emotionally for nearly a year and had often shared how certain teachers scolded, insulted, and threatened him.
His father said they had verbally complained to the school multiple times but nothing changed. The boy was also allegedly threatened with expulsion just days before his board exam prelims.
His aunt added that the boy had even told school counsellors he was having suicidal thoughts, but the family was never informed.
Protests, FIR, and Action Taken
Following the tragedy, parents and students gathered outside the school demanding accountability. An FIR has been registered under sections related to abetment of suicide. Statements of classmates, staff members, and school officials are now being recorded.
Four staff members — including the headmistress and two teachers — have been suspended pending investigation. However, the family says this is not enough.“These suspensions are temporary,” the father said. “Arrests should happen. Only then will other teachers understand they cannot emotionally break children.”
A Community in Shock
The incident has triggered conversations about emotional safety in schools, the pressure on students in Class 10, and how often signs of distress go unnoticed — or ignored.
The boy’s father, who was out of town for a relative’s surgery at the time, rushed back after receiving an anonymous call informing him about the tragedy. By the time he reached the hospital, his son had been declared dead.

A Silent Struggle Ends With a Message
More than a case, this tragedy now stands as a warning. A child who wanted to act, smile, and dream — instead asked that his death prevent another.
His last line to his brother reads quietly, painfully:
“Sorry bhaiya… this time I will break your heart for the last time.”
