Delhi LG Declares Holiday on February 12 for Guru Ravidas Jayanti

Guru Ravidas Jayanti: In a significant announcement, Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena has declared a public holiday for all government offices, autonomous bodies, and public undertakings in the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi on February 12, 2025, in observance of Guru Ravidas Jayanti.

The decision supersedes an earlier notification that designated February 12 as a restricted holiday. With this new order, government schools will also remain closed on Wednesday, February 12.

While the holiday will affect most government-related institutions, essential services and departments responsible for critical functions, including health, law enforcement, and emergency services, will continue to operate following standard holiday protocols.

Guru Ravidas Jayanti is a significant occasion for many in India, especially among the followers of Guru Ravidas, a prominent saint and social reformer from the Bhakti movement. The day is marked by celebrations and prayers in various parts of the country, with devotees honoring his teachings and contributions to social equality.

An official declaration was made via an official order issued by the Lieutenant Governor’s office stating that the holiday applies to all the government offices, autonomous bodies, and public undertakings governed by the Delhi government.

Government services will, therefore, be limited on the day, while essential operations would not be disturbed. Citizens need to plan ahead for their daily activities accordingly.
