Delhi NCR: The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor, one of the much-awaited transformative projects under the Namo Bharat initiative by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will be inaugurated on 29 December 2024. This completely new regional rail service promises to redefine connectivity and reduce travel time between Delhi and Meerut to swift 35–40 minutes, ensuring commuters have an efficient, affordable, and cost-effective travel option.

Inauguration and Launch Details

The initial operations will span the 12-km stretch between Sahibabad and New Ashok Nagar in Delhi. PM Modi is likely to board the inaugural train ride from Sahibabad station, commencing this iconic service.

Preparations are on in full swing to ensure that the launch is smooth and secure. The SPG and the Ghaziabad Police Commissionerate have undertaken comprehensive security surveys at Sahibabad station, which also included identifying helicopter landing sites for the Prime Minister. In parallel, departments are vigorously undertaking cleanliness drives and fine-tuning logistical arrangements along the corridor.

Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corridor Key Features Time-Saving and Direct Connectivity:

  • Phase 2: Was extended up to Modinagar North on March 6, 2024 that was spread up by 17 km.
  • Phase 3: Meerut South was brought into operation on 18 August 2024 where total distance covered had to reach 42 km. Up to nine stations had their work done.
  • Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar: The successful completion of trial runs on this 12-km stretch has paved the way for its upcoming launch.
  • Entire Corridor Completion: By June 2025, the entire 82-km corridor will be fully operational, enabling passengers to travel from Delhi to Meerut in under an hour.
