Delhi exit poll Live: Exit polls for the Delhi assembly elections are expected to be released on Sunday night, giving an idea of what the polls might show. Initial results suggest that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may end the Aam Aadmi Party’s winning streak by winning more than 39 of the 70 seats.
Voting for the Delhi assembly elections was held on Wednesday, the final results of which will be declared on February 8. According to official data, 57.70 per cent polling was recorded till 5 pm. This turnout was lower than the 62.59 per cent recorded in the 2020 elections, raising questions about its possible impact on the final verdict.

---|---|
BJP | 39 |
AAP | 27 |
Congress | 2 |
AIMIM | 1 |
If the exit poll projections prove correct, the BJP will end AAP’s decade-long reign in Delhi. The AAP, led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has been in power since 2015 and had won the last two assembly elections with a landslide victory. However, several factors including anti-incumbency, governance challenges and the BJP’s aggressive campaign have influenced voters’ sentiments.
The BJP is campaigning quite aggressively raising issues of corruption allegations against AAP leaders, law and order concerns and promises of better governance. The party has also been boosted by the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose leadership remains a key factor in elections across the country.
AAP leaders have shown great confidence in their second term and their governance record in sectors such as education, health and electricity. The party also targeted the BJP for issues such as inflation and unemployment.
The Congress, which had a successful run in Delhi for three consecutive terms under the leadership of Sheila Dikshit, is expected to be a marginal performer in this election. The party has not been able to regain the lost voter base and will hardly pose any significant challenge to the BJP or the AAP.
The final exit poll figures will be scrutinised by political analysts and party leaders after the trends emerge, but the final verdict will only be out on February 8 when the official election results will be declared.
