New Delhi, May 13, 2025 — As tensions continue to escalate between India and Pakistan, major disruptions have hit domestic air travel, prompting the Delhi Airport authorities to issue an important five-point advisory for passengers. This comes in the wake of multiple flight cancellations announced by leading carriers IndiGo and Air India, affecting routes to and from key northern cities like Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, and more.

While the Delhi Airport has clarified that its operations remain normal, officials have acknowledged that some flight schedules could be impacted due to evolving airspace conditions and heightened security measures. These precautions are being implemented under the directives of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.
The Five-Point Passenger Advisory Issued by Delhi Airport:
- Stay Updated: Passengers are strongly encouraged to keep in touch with their respective airlines for real-time updates regarding their flights.
- Luggage Guidelines: Travellers are advised to strictly follow the rules regarding hand baggage and check-in luggage to avoid delays or complications at the airport.
- Arrive Early: With intensified security checks in place, arriving early at the airport is essential to ensure timely processing and boarding.
- Cooperate with Staff: Smooth facilitation depends on cooperation with airline and security personnel. Passengers are urged to follow instructions and remain patient.
- Verify Flight Status: Before heading to the airport, flyers should confirm their flight’s status through official airline channels or the Delhi Airport’s official website.
Additionally, airport authorities have warned against relying on unverified sources for travel updates. “Passengers should trust only official communication to avoid confusion,” a spokesperson stated.
IndiGo Cancels Flights from Six Cities
In a statement issued late on Monday, May 12, IndiGo Airlines announced the cancellation of flights to and from six critical locations: Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Leh, Srinagar, and Rajkot. The airline cited “safety concerns” as the reason for these decisions.
“With your safety as our top priority, we have temporarily suspended operations on select routes for May 13,” IndiGo’s advisory read. The airline also urged all passengers to check flight status via the official website or app before making their way to the airport.
Air India Grounds Flights from Eight Airports
Following suit, Air India also suspended its services on select routes for May 13. The affected airports include Jammu, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot.
“Passenger safety remains paramount. We are working closely with security agencies and local authorities and will resume operations as soon as conditions permit,” the airline said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
What This Means for Travellers
Though the Delhi Airport continues to function normally, the uncertainty in surrounding airspace and the proactive steps by airlines suggest that disruptions could continue, at least in the short term. Travellers planning to fly in or out of affected regions are advised to remain alert, flexible with travel plans, and maintain constant communication with airlines.
For now, patience and preparedness are the key to navigating these challenging travel conditions.
Stay safe, stay informed — and always trust official sources for the latest travel updates.
