The sudden surge in wind speed caught residents off guard, leading to multiple accidents, uprooted trees, and structural damage in vulnerable areas. Authorities have urged people to remain cautious as unstable weather conditions persist.
Roof Collapse in Manimajra Injures Three Children
One of the most alarming incidents was reported from Manimajra, where the roof of a residential house collapsed amid the strong winds.
According to local sources, three children were inside the house at the time of the incident and sustained injuries when debris fell on them. Neighbours rushed to help and shifted the injured children to a nearby hospital.
Hospital officials confirmed that the children are undergoing treatment and are currently out of danger, though they have suffered significant injuries.
Tree Branch Falls on Moving Activa in Sector 35D
Another serious incident occurred in Sector 35D, where a large tree branch snapped and fell on a moving Activa scooter.
The rider suffered multiple injuries after losing balance due to the sudden impact. Passersby immediately intervened and informed emergency services. The injured person was later shifted to a medical facility for treatment.
Eyewitnesses described the incident as sudden and terrifying, highlighting the unpredictable nature of the windstorm.
Multiple Areas Affected as Trees Collapse
Several parts of Chandigarh reported fallen trees, broken branches, and traffic disruptions as the gusty winds continued through the day. In some areas, roads were partially blocked, causing inconvenience to commuters.
Municipal teams were deployed to clear fallen trees and restore traffic movement. Power supply disruptions were also reported briefly in a few pockets due to damaged overhead lines.
