Panic swept through Chandigarh on Wednesday morning after several schools across the city received bomb threat emails, triggering immediate evacuations and heightened security measures. The sudden threat caused anxiety among students, parents, and school staff, prompting swift action from school authorities and law enforcement agencies.
According to official sources, at least five private schools received threatening emails warning of a possible bomb presence on their premises. These included St Kabir Public School, Vivek High School, Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sacred Heart School, and Chitkara International School. Reports also suggested that some government schools may have received similar messages, though confirmation was awaited.
As soon as the emails were received, school administrations alerted the Chandigarh Police, who rushed to the affected campuses. As a precautionary measure, students already inside the school buildings were evacuated to open areas, while others were sent back home safely. Parents were informed through official communication channels to prevent panic and ensure orderly movement.
Police personnel were seen stationed outside the school premises, restricting entry and maintaining security. Bomb detection and disposal squads were deployed to conduct thorough checks of classrooms, corridors, playgrounds, and other common areas.
