Microsoft co-founder and global philanthropist Bill Gates is set to visit Andhra Pradesh on Monday, in what is being seen as a significant moment for the state’s push toward technology-driven governance and healthcare expansion. Gates will travel to Amaravati to hold detailed discussions with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on strengthening cooperation in public health and artificial intelligence initiatives.

The high-level meeting at the state secretariat will also include IT Minister Nara Lokesh and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. According to state Municipal Minister P. Narayana, the discussions will focus on expanding the scope of ongoing health projects and exploring how artificial intelligence can further improve governance and service delivery.
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has already been working in Kuppam in Chittoor district on health-related initiatives. These projects aim to strengthen grassroots healthcare systems and improve access to essential services. The Andhra Pradesh government now hopes to scale up these interventions across the state, potentially benefiting millions of residents through enhanced public health infrastructure and digital health solutions.
Following the formal talks, Gates is scheduled to visit the Real Time Governance System (RTGS) centre in Amaravati. The RTGS platform uses advanced data analytics and digital tools to monitor service delivery and improve administrative efficiency. Chief Minister Naidu will showcase how technology is being integrated into governance to enhance transparency and responsiveness. He is also expected to present the “Swarna Andhra 2047” vision, a long-term development roadmap designed to transform the state into a prosperous and innovation-led economy by 2047.
The presentation will highlight reforms introduced in sectors such as med-tech, diagnostic services, and the Sanjeevani programme, which focuses on digitising health records. Officials believe that digital health records can streamline treatment processes, reduce errors, and improve preventive healthcare by making patient data easily accessible across institutions.
Later in the day, Gates and his delegation will visit an agricultural centre in Undavalli village near Amaravati. There, they will observe the use of drone technology and artificial intelligence in farming. The demonstration will show how AI-powered analytics and drone-based monitoring are helping farmers adopt precision agriculture, reduce costs, and increase productivity. The initiative aligns closely with Gates’ global emphasis on agricultural innovation and sustainable development.
This will not be Gates’ first visit to the region. He had earlier travelled to the erstwhile undivided Andhra Pradesh, but this trip carries renewed significance. It follows a personal invitation from Chief Minister Naidu to deepen collaboration between the state government and the foundation.
The visit reflects Andhra Pradesh’s ambition to position itself as a leader in digital governance, healthcare innovation, and AI adoption. If the proposed expansions move forward, the partnership could serve as a model for other states looking to integrate technology with public welfare initiatives.
