Ayodhya Ram Navami 2025 Surya Tilak

Ayodhya, April 6, 2025 — In a spiritually uplifting moment steeped in tradition and celestial precision, Ram Navami 2025 celebrations reached a historic peak today as the Surya Tilak adorned the forehead of Ram Lalla at Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir, Ayodhya. The iconic event, symbolizing Lord Ram’s divine birth and his connection with the Suryavanshi lineage, captivated devotees across India and around the world.

Thousands of devotees gathered at the temple complex in Ayodhya, joining in the grandeur and religious fervor as part of one of the biggest spiritual gatherings of the year. The newly constructed Ram Mandir witnessed its first Surya Tilak celebration since the temple’s inauguration, making the occasion even more significant.

What is the Surya Tilak?

The Surya Tilak is a celestial spectacle where a focused beam of sunlight naturally aligns to fall precisely on the forehead of the Ram Lalla idol at 12:00 noon. This alignment is achieved through a meticulously designed optical system comprising lenses and mirrors, developed by scientists at CBRI Roorkee and IIA Bengaluru.

The sunlight travels via a mirror installed atop the temple, reflects through a brass pipe, and is redirected at multiple angles using mirrors and lenses. The final ray creates a 75 mm tilak on the deity’s forehead, a stunning blend of science and divinity that lasted for four magical minutes (12:00–12:04 PM), with the brightest alignment between the second and third minute.

📺 Global Live Telecast of Surya Tilak

To ensure that devotees around the world could participate in the sacred moment, Doordarshan broadcast the Surya Tilak live, while the Ram Mandir Trust streamed it across their official social media platforms. Additionally, large LED screens and mobile display units were set up across Ayodhya to allow everyone in the city to witness the divine alignment.

Day-Long Celebrations at Ram Janmbhoomi

The day began early with devotees taking a holy dip in the Saryu River, followed by visits to prominent temples including Nageshwar Nath, Hanumangarhi, Kanak Bhawan, and the main Ram Mandir.

The ritual schedule at the Ram Mandir included:

  • 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM: Special Abhishek (anointment) of Ram Lalla
  • 10:30 AM – 10:40 AM: Sanctum closed for preparations
  • 10:40 AM – 11:45 AM: Curtain lifted, Bhog offered to the deity
  • 12:00 PM – 12:04 PM: Surya Tilak moment
  • Post-noon: Grand Chappan Bhog (offering of 56 food items), Aarti and Shringar ceremonies

Devotional Atmosphere & Security Arrangements

The temple city of Ayodhya is resonating with devotional chants, Ram bhajans, and Akhand Ramayan Paath sessions being conducted across homes and temples. In a parallel religious observance, the two-day Akhand Ramayan (continuous reading of Ramcharitmanas) that began on Ashtami, concluded today with collective prayers and offerings.

The district administration ensured tight security across the city, especially around riverbanks and the temple complex. SDRF, NDRF, and water police teams were deployed to manage the crowd and ensure a peaceful celebration.

🇮🇳 Wishes From National Leaders

Marking the significance of the day, President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt wishes to the nation. PM Modi, in his message, emphasized Lord Ram’s timeless values of truth, courage, and compassion and wished for peace and harmony across the country.

🌞 A Glimpse of Faith, Science & Spiritual Legacy

This year’s Ram Navami celebration is not just a festival—it is a confluence of faith, technology, tradition, and national pride. The Surya Tilak ceremony, representing the solar heritage of Lord Ram, stands as a shining example of how ancient wisdom and modern science can together create moments of profound spiritual significance.

As chants of “Jai Shri Ram” echo through Ayodhya, devotees take home not just blessings but a divine experience that will be cherished for generations.
