Jaipur: In a shocking incident, Divya Raj (21), a first-year student of Bachelor of Architecture at Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT), allegedly ended her life by jumping from the sixth floor of the college hostel on Sunday night, police reported on Monday.

Divya Raj, a local resident of Pali district, was found dead. The police had found a suicide note, whose contents are unknown at this moment. Assistant Commissioner of Police Aditya Poonia from Malviya Nagar confirmed that the student jumped from the hostel’s sixth floor.

“The body has been taken to the mortuary at Jaipuria Hospital for post-mortem,” added ACP Poonia.

The incident sent shockwaves across the MNIT campus, leaving students and staff in such a state of sadness. Counselors have been deployed to support those affected by the tragedy.

Police authorities are now investigating the issue further, asking for the circumstances leading up to the suicide. The college administration has also urged the students to report their stress issues or mental health problems to the relevant departments of the college.

This tragic event underlines the need to pay more attention to mental health issues in students and offer them suitable support systems.
