No rift in Haryana Cabinet, Anil Vij not angry: CM Naib Saini

Chandigarh, Feb 4: Haryana Chief Minister Naib Saini on Tuesday ruled out the possibility of any rift with state Power and Transport Minister Anil Vij amid speculations that he had an open disagreement with a senior BJP leader. Saini denied reports even as Vij was said to have shown enough signs of ‘discomfort’ over some recent political developments.

Speaking to reporters after the Cabinet meeting, Saini emphasised that Vij is a respected senior leader of the party and has every right to express his views. “Today we were together in the Cabinet meeting. We also held a department review meeting. There is no ‘narajgi’ (discontent),” the chief minister said.

Anil Vij, a six-time MLA from Ambala Cantt, had recently alleged that some within the party had played a role in trying to defeat him during the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections. He expressed disappointment that no action was taken against those responsible. Vij’s remarks have fuelled political discussions, raising questions about internal tensions within the BJP-led government in Haryana.

Nevertheless, CM Saini dismissed the differences, saying, “He is our senior leader, and he has the right to express his opinion. There is no issue between us.”

BJP government in Haryana: There has been a change in leadership recently, and the government is busy maintaining unity. Though Vij claims to be disgruntled, Saini seems to have reassured him that the party is united ahead of the impending political battle. The scenario related to Vij’s allegations and the Chief Minister’s response will be closely monitored as the process in Haryana progresses.
