Amit Shah Highlights the Grandeur of Prayagraj Kumbh Mela, Calls It a Wonder of Indian Tradition

Ahmedabad, Gujarat: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, speaking in Ahmedabad, said that the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela is something that has amazed the world with its unparalleled cultural and spiritual significance.

Amit Shah said, “The Mahakumbh is taking place in Prayagraj after 144 years, and the world is astonished by its scale and grandeur. Several ambassadors personally approached me asking for invitations to attend. I explained to them that the Kumbh is a unique gathering where no formal invitation is required. Millions of people arrive based on planetary alignments, purely out of faith.”

He further noted, “They are astonished how 40 crores are coming to one place without formal invitations. They ask me often who handles it. I reply that the government’s management of the Kumbh is as tiny as the squirrel’s contribution in the construction of the Ram Setu.

The Kumbh is a very ancient tradition which has been maintained for thousands of years,” said the Home Minister, explaining the Kumbh as a “tradition so ancient that it had survived all historical periods, even during the Mughal period, British rule, and the Congress governments”.

Shah’s comments bring out the sheer magnitude of the Kumbh Mela, often considered the world’s largest peaceful congregation. It is a celebration that speaks to India’s glorious heritage, where millions come together, not because they are compelled or invited, but because of an age-old spiritual calling.
