Ajmer Hotel Fire Tragedy: A massive fire broke out at a hotel in Rajasthan’s Ajmer, killing four and injuring several. Trapped guests jumped from windows to escape the blaze. Full details inside.

Ajmer, Rajasthan – May 1, 2025: A devastating fire tore through a five-storey hotel in the densely populated Diggi Bazaar area of Ajmer early Thursday morning, claiming the lives of four people and injuring several others. The horrifying incident has shaken the city and raised serious questions about fire safety norms in congested areas.
Narrow Lane Hampers Rescue as Fire Engulfs Hotel
According to officials, the fire broke out around dawn, quickly spreading through the building, trapping dozens of guests inside. The hotel, located on a narrow lane, posed a significant challenge for the rescue teams.
“The road leading to the hotel is extremely narrow, which slowed down our operations. We had to use ladders to reach the upper floors,” said Ajmer Fire Officer Jagdish Prasad.
Guests Jump from Windows to Survive
In scenes of sheer panic and desperation, several guests were seen jumping from the windows of the hotel to escape the raging flames and suffocating smoke. Some bystanders tried to help, forming makeshift nets and using blankets to catch those leaping from the higher floors.
Mangila Kalosia, a survivor staying at the hotel, recounted the horror:
“There was a loud blast, and within minutes, the entire building filled with smoke. A woman threw her child into my arms from the window. She also tried to jump, but we managed to stop her just in time.”
Another man wasn’t so lucky. He jumped from a window and suffered serious head injuries.
Victims Identified: 2 Men, a Woman, and a Child
Dr. Anil Samaria, Principal of JLN Medical College, confirmed the fatalities:
“Four people have died — two men, a woman, and a child. All of them appear to have succumbed to suffocation and burn injuries.”
Several others, including unconscious victims and two women with severe injuries, were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Possible Cause: Suspected Short Circuit
Though an official cause is yet to be confirmed, preliminary investigations suggest that the fire might have been triggered by a short circuit. The local police and fire department are jointly probing the incident.
Additional SP Himanshu Jangid stated, “We are collecting CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses. Rescue efforts were severely delayed due to the hotel’s location.”
Safety Lapses in Spotlight
This tragedy has once again highlighted the lack of fire safety compliance in commercial establishments, especially those located in older, cramped city zones. Locals are demanding strict action against the hotel management and a broader crackdown on buildings that ignore fire safety norms.
A Wake-Up Call for Urban Safety
The Ajmer hotel fire is not just a tragic loss of lives — it is a grim reminder of the risks posed by unsafe constructions and poor emergency preparedness. As grieving families seek justice and survivors recover, authorities must act swiftly to prevent such disasters in the future.
