The situation reportedly escalated near Gate Number 2 of AIIMS. The victim alleged that the men made obscene gestures and inappropriately touched her despite her objections. When she raised an alarm and confronted them, the accused allegedly threatened her with serious consequences before fleeing the spot.

The doctor immediately returned to her hostel and informed her colleagues, who alerted higher authorities. A formal complaint was filed the next day, following which a police team reached the AIIMS campus to record her statement.

Superintendent of Police Abhinav Tyagi confirmed that three individuals were involved in the case. “Two of them have been arrested and will be produced in court. Efforts are ongoing to trace the third accused,” he said.

Police identified the arrested men as Suraj Gupta (22) and Amrit Vishwakarma (21), both residents of Deoria district. Officials said they were traced using CCTV footage collected from the mall, the AIIMS premises, and cameras installed along roads and buildings between the two locations. The motorcycle allegedly used during the crime has been seized.

According to police, Suraj runs a fruit shop, while Amrit operates a general merchandise store in Deoria. Both were arrested near their homes and are set to be produced before a local court.

Authorities have booked the accused under charges related to assault or use of criminal force against a woman with intent to outrage her modesty, engaging in obscene acts, criminal intimidation, and intentional insult intended to provoke a breach of peace.

The incident has triggered anger among medical professionals and students, many of whom have demanded stronger security arrangements around the campus and better patrolling in nearby areas. Police have assured strict action and stated that the investigation is ongoing.
