Lucknow was left stunned on Thursday after a 37-year-old ICICI Bank relationship manager was shot dead outside her workplace in Gomti Nagar, followed by the deaths of her husband and his sister in what police are investigating as a linked triple killing.
The victim, identified as Divya Mishra, lived in Singar Nagar in Alambagh and worked as a relationship manager, or assistant manager, with ICICI Bank. She was shot at around 11:22 am outside the bank in Vivek Khand, Gomti Nagar, shortly after returning from a client meeting.
Police said Divya had arrived at the bank and was with fellow employees when her husband, Manas Bajpai, allegedly approached her. According to the preliminary police account, Bajpai had been waiting for her arrival. After a brief conversation, he allegedly opened fire before fleeing the scene.
The sudden shooting outside a busy bank branch created panic in the area as people tried to understand what had happened. Divya sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences. Doctors, however, declared her dead on arrival.

ADCP East Amol Murkut said police were examining the circumstances of the shooting and would have greater clarity after the medical examination. He said Divya had returned from meeting a client and was accompanied by colleagues when the attack took place.
“Her husband, who had already been lying in wait, attacked her and allegedly shot her,” the officer said, adding that investigators would establish the sequence of events as the inquiry progresses.
Police are examining a reported marital dispute between Divya and Manas as a possible factor behind the killing. Investigators said Divya had filed for divorce about a year ago and the case was pending before a family court.
The reported divorce proceedings have emerged as an important part of the investigation, although police have not yet established a final motive. Investigators are expected to examine the couple’s personal history, court proceedings and circumstances surrounding their interactions before the shooting.
The case took an even more disturbing turn after the attack outside the bank. Police said Manas fled the area and went to his residence in Husadiya. At the house, he allegedly shot his sister, Vibha Bajpai, before taking his own life.
The deaths at the second location have raised questions about what happened between the shooting in Gomti Nagar and the subsequent killings at the residence. Police are working to reconstruct the timeline and determine the exact sequence of events.
Investigators are also looking into the circumstances surrounding Vibha’s death and the subsequent death of Manas. The authorities are expected to rely on forensic evidence, post-mortem findings, witness accounts and other available evidence to establish what happened.
Divya’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination. The medical examination is expected to provide important evidence for the investigation, while police continue to examine the events at both locations.
Divya’s death has also shocked members of her wider professional and personal circles. She was not only working in the banking sector but was also the sister of journalist and YouTuber Pragya Mishra.
The fact that the shooting occurred outside a bank during working hours has added to the sense of alarm surrounding the incident. Police are examining how the alleged attacker reached the location, what happened during the brief interaction between the couple and how the shooting unfolded in the presence of other people.

At present, investigators are treating the reported marital dispute as one possible line of inquiry rather than a conclusively established motive. Police will have to establish the events through evidence before drawing final conclusions about why the violence occurred.
The investigation remains underway under the jurisdiction of Gomti Nagar police station. Officers are examining evidence from both locations and working to establish the complete sequence behind the three deaths.
The case has left Lucknow confronting a deeply disturbing chain of violence that began outside a workplace in Gomti Nagar and ended with two more deaths at a residence. As investigators piece together the timeline, the post-mortem reports and forensic findings are expected to play a key role in determining what happened and why.
