Lucknow: In a major welfare decision, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has approved a comprehensive cashless medical treatment scheme for education sector workers across the state. The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting in which 30 proposals received formal approval.

Under this landmark move, 11,95,391 teachers, education staff, and allied workers, along with their dependent family members, will be eligible for cashless medical care. The scheme is expected to cost the state exchequer ₹358.61 crore.
Major Relief for Education Sector Employees
The cabinet’s approval brings significant relief to thousands of education workers who have long demanded better healthcare security. The scheme will cover personnel working in basic education council schools, aided institutions, self-financed schools, and various education-related programs run by the state.
According to official details, beneficiaries will be able to avail cashless treatment at empanelled hospitals, reducing the financial burden during medical emergencies.

Coverage Across Multiple Education Categories
The cashless medical facility will extend to a wide range of employees working under the basic education system:
Basic Education Council Schools
- 4,34,226 teachers and staff
Aided Junior High Schools
- 13,380 teachers
Self-Financed Recognized Schools
- 4,72,735 teachers
Other Education Workers
- Education Mitras: 1,42,929
- Instructors in Upper Primary Schools: 24,717
- Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya staff (wardens, part-time & full-time teachers): 7,479
- PM Poshan Scheme Cooks: 97,344
- Special Educators: 2,581
In addition, dependent family members of all eligible workers will also be covered under the scheme.
