The Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls by one week, giving citizens more time to update their voter details. The decision covers nine states and three Union Territories, where the revision process has been underway since October 27.

Enumeration Forms to Continue Till December 11
In its official statement issued on Sunday, the poll authority announced that the distribution of enumeration forms—originally scheduled to end on December 4—will now continue till December 11. The extension is expected to benefit new voters, migrant citizens, and those seeking corrections or updates in their voter information.
Draft Rolls Now on December 16
The Election Commission has also shifted the date for publishing the draft electoral rolls. Instead of December 9, the revised draft will now be released on December 16. This window allows political parties and citizens additional time to scrutinize entries and raise objections, ensuring greater accuracy.
Final Voter List on February 14, 2026
With the revised timeline, the ECI will now publish the final electoral rolls on February 14, 2026, a week later than the earlier date of February 7. The Commission said the extension will help achieve a more comprehensive and error-free voter list ahead of key electoral cycles.
Why the Revision Matters
The Special Intensive Revision plays a crucial role in keeping electoral rolls updated, especially in regions with high migration or demographic changes. The process includes the addition of first-time voters, deletion of duplicate or invalid entries, and correction of personal details.
By providing an additional week, the Commission aims to ensure better participation and accuracy, reinforcing its commitment to maintaining transparent and inclusive electoral processes.
