Chandigarh Traffic Police Conduct Road Safety Sessions Across Schools to Promote “Zero Accidental Deaths” Vision

The Chandigarh Traffic Police intensified its road safety outreach this week by conducting a series of awareness sessions across multiple schools in the city. The initiative, aimed at shaping responsible young citizens, brought practical traffic education directly to classrooms and real-world junctions.

Officials from the Traffic Police team visited Little Flower School, Manimajra, Paragon Convent School, Sector 24, Sector 63 near the Mohali–Chandigarh border, and Sector 49, where they engaged hundreds of students in interactive sessions on safe movement on the roads.

Students Learn Traffic Rules Through Real-Time Demos

During the sessions, officers explained the importance of helmet use, seat belts, zebra crossings, pedestrian signals, speed limits, and the dangers of mobile phone usage while walking or driving. Students were encouraged to follow these rules and ensure the same habits at home with their families.

To help students understand the complexities of real traffic movement, the team organized live demonstrations at key intersections, including Dhillon Light Point and Sector 24/25 Light Point. Here, students observed how signals, lane discipline, and pedestrian pathways function during peak traffic hours.

The hands-on approach allowed students to witness the consequences of unsafe road behavior and the importance of compliance with traffic signals.

Aligning with the Vision of “Zero Accidental Deaths”

According to the officials leading the program, the initiative supports Chandigarh’s broader mission of achieving Zero Accidental Deaths.” The effort emphasizes early education, community participation, and consistent awareness as essential tools in reducing fatal road incidents.

Traffic officers stressed that young students play a vital role in influencing household behavior, making them key partners in long-term road safety reforms.

A Step Toward Safer Roads

The Chandigarh Traffic Police plans to continue similar awareness drives across more schools and public spaces in the coming weeks. The department believes that a well-informed younger generation can significantly contribute to shaping safer and more disciplined road culture in the city.
